SCOTTY Projektraum für zeitgenössische Kunst und experimentelle Medien, eingetragener Verein (English version below) SCOTTY wurde 2006 gegründet. Der Projektraum im kleinsten Haus Kreuzbergs in der Oranienstrasse wird von 14 KünstlerInnen organisiert. SCOTTY bietet beteiligten als auch geladenen KünstlerInnen und KuratorInnen eine offene Plattform mit größtmöglicher Freiheit bei maximaler Nutzung des Gruppenpotentials. In regelmäßigem Wechsel werden intermediale und interdisziplinäre Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen gezeigt, Performances und Filmabende organisiert. Im Mittelpunkt stehen zeitgenössische gesellschafts- und kulturpolitische Fragestellungen. Der Projektraum agiert marktunabhängig, selbstbestimmt und ohne Hierarchien. Über die Arbeit im Raum in Berlin-Kreuzberg hinaus initiieren und organisieren die Mitglieder von SCOTTY überregionale und internationale Kooperationen mit anderen Projekträumen, wodurch die Position autonom arbeitender KünstlerInnen durch Sichtbarkeit und Vernetzung gestärkt wird. Bei aller Individualität der Mitglieder ist es gemeinsames Bestreben, künstlerische Handlungs- und Denkräume zu öffnen. Der Verein lebt durch die konsequent selbstbestimmte Durchführung demokratischer Vereinbarungen aller Mitglieder bei der Projektplanung und -umsetzung. In the house with the smallest floor space in Kreuzberg Scotty provides an open platform for its member artists and curators as well as for guests, offering the greatest possible freedom while exploiting group potential to a maximum. Intermedia and interdisciplinary solo and group exhibitions are shown at regular intervals, and performances and film evenings are organized. The focus is on contemporary social and cultural-political issues. SCOTTY operates independent of the market – it is selfautonomy determined and non-hierarchical. Above and beyond the work in this space in Berlin-Kreuzberg , the members of SCOTTY initiate and organize supra-regional and international cooperation with other similar project spaces, strengthening the position of artists working autonomously through nationwide visibility and networking. Despite the members‘ pronounced individuality, they share a desire to create new opportunities for artistic actions and ideas. The vitality of SCOTTY arises from the consistent, self-determined implementation of democratic agreement among members during the planning and realization of projects.
