Das Berliner Festival für Noise, Improvisation und rauschhafte Klänge kehrt zurück auf die große Bühne. Ende Juli gibt es drei Tage A L'ARME! im Radialsystem direkt an der Spree. 13 Acts, 18 Konzerte, rund 40 Musiker:innen. Dazu ein Kick-off-Event am 28. Juli im Zenner Biergarten, open air, bei freiem Eintritt – und all das vor Publikum!
Nach der digitalen Ausgabe im Dezember 2020 gibt beim Neustart von A L'ARME! im Sommer 2021 eine Handvoll Premieren den Takt vor, etwa die der Ensembles Unstumm und Skultura, beide zum ersten Mal in ihrer Heimatstadt Berlin zu erleben.
Ein weiteres Highlight ist die erstmalige Zusammenarbeit von Kali Malone mit Gitarren-Chirurg Stephen O'Malley und Cellistin Lucy Railton. Letztere sind außerdem beide auch in weiteren Formationen zu hören. Das Kollektiv Karkhana verwebt Einflüsse aus Beirut, Kairo, Istanbul und Chicago; das Moondog Project huldigt einem der größten Eigenbrötler der Musikgeschichte; außerdem übernehmen Orgelpfeifen, Tonbandmaschinen und Holzobjekte weitere tragende Rollen.
Wie immer geht es bei A L'ARME! VOL. IX um das Erproben diverser Aggregatzustände des Hörens und Fühlens. 2020 mutierte das Festival zum Film, der die eigene Mission in ein neues Licht rückt und im Sommer 2021 im Radialsystem zu sehen sein wird. Für die neunte Ausgabe stehen alle Vorzeichen wieder auf: Performance. Live, direkt, mit physischer Kraft. Und im unmittelbaren Austausch mit dem Publikum, der durch nichts zu ersetzen ist.

Berlin’s festival for noise, improvisation and ecstatic sounds is returning to the big stage. At the end of July, A L’ARME! will be taking over Radialsystem on the banks of the Spree forthree days and nights. 13 acts, 18 concerts and around 40 musicians. The free, open-air kick- off event will be held on 28 July in the Zenner Biergarten – in front of a live audience!
After the digital edition in December 2020, A L’ARME! is relaunching in summer 2021 with a handful of premieres, such as the Unstumm and Skultura ensembles, both of which will be performing live in their home city of Berlin for the first time ever.

Another highlight will be the first-ever collaboration between Kali Malone, guitar surgeon Stephen O’Malley and cellist Lucy Railton. The latter two artists will also be performing at the festival in other formations as well. The Karkhana Collective weaves together influences from Beirut, Cairo, Istanbul and Chicago; the Moondog Project pays homage to one of the greatest lone wolves in musical history; and, organ pipes, magnetic tape machines and wooden objects also play key roles.
As always, A L’ARME! VOL. IX will be about exploring various aggregate states of listening and feeling. In 2020, A L’ARME mutated into a film that portrayed the festival’s mission in a new light and that will be screened at Radialsystem in summer 2021. For the ninth edition of the festival, all signs once again point to performance. Live, direct, with physical force. And in direct exchange with the audience – something truly irreplaceable.
