Das sagt der/die Veranstalter:in:

Described by The Guardian as “honey-toned”, vocalist and songwriter Michelle Daly's versatility ranges from soul and jazz to modern opera. Her music is inspired by retro soul and rhythm and blues artists employing classic pop structures. 'January Skies', the debut single and new album title track, was released earlier this year and has since been featured on Irish national radio station, RTE Radio 1. This concert marks the release of the album, recorded, produced and arranged by Charis Karantzas at Jazzanova Recording Studio, Berlin. It includes string arrangements by violinist and composer Heloise Lefebvre (Sundew), as well as appearances by many notable Berlin musicians. This album is Daly’s latest collaboration with long-time writing partner, Australian composer, Michael Edwards, whose writing credits include work with Morcheeba and the soundtracks for Game of Thrones, Calvary and Layer Cake. A regular on the opera stage, Michelle recently played the female lead in the world premiere of Yasutaki Inamori’s Wir Aus Glas for Deutsche Oper Berlin. Other collaborations include guest vocals on the critically acclaimed 'These New Puritans' album, 'Inside the Rose'. Michelle is also working on new material with Beirut-born electronic musician/DJ, Nur Jaber. Support // Hazel Iris Avant-pop and indie-folk artist Hazel Iris weaves lyrics and instrumentation together to create sonic tapestries of social and emotional commentary á la Kate Bush, Joan Baez and Tori Amos. With a background in classical music, her work is inspired by the richly-layered storytelling patterns in chanson and folk, her ghostly sound leading to a journey of feminist and existential exploration. Her latest album, Nine Sisters, was recorded at Hollywood’s Sunset Sound Studio and was hailed by Sound Shark as “Ushered in with a twist of heart-warming eccentricity, this classically trained and extraordinarily talented spirit explores ethereal folk strolls, upbeat pomp and splendour and haunting but touching ballads, while effortlessly blurring the lines of indie, electronic, folk, and classical music with the wave of her wand.” Joining Hazel for this performance will be cellist Natasha Jaffe and accordionist Valentin Butt.
