Odd wednesday: Bordreuil-Chen // Steyer-Ocougne

Doors 18:30 | Concerts 19:00 sharp Entry 5€ Leila Bordreuil - cello Audrey Chen - cello, voice, electronics **Leila Bordreuil is a Brooklyn-based cellist, composer and sound-artist from France. She accesses concepts as diverse as Noise, contemporary classical, free jazz, and experimental traditions but adheres to none of them. Her music mixes deep melancholia with harsh noise-walls at ear-bleeding levels, and was described by the New York Times as “steadily scathing music, favoring long and corrosive atonalities”. www.leilabordreuil.com **Andrey Chen turned to the cello at age 8 and voice at 11. After years of classical and conservatory training in both instruments, with a resulting specialization in early and new music, she parted ways again in 2003 to begin new negotiations with sound in order to discover a more individually honest aesthetic. Since then, using the cello, voice and occasional analog electronics, Chen’s work delves deeply into her own version of narrative and non-linear storytelling. www.audreychen.com // Edith Steyer - saxophone Silvia Ocougne - prepared guitar **Edith Steyer is a free improvising clarinet and saxophone player with her roots in jazz and classical music of the 20th century. She is dedicated to the exploration of her instruments and works with different preparations and elements like drum skins, water and wind and lately also with electronic devices. http://www.edith-steyer.de/ **Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Silvia Ocougne studied composition with Willi Correa de Oliveira at São Paulo University and guitar with Manoel São Marcos, Paulo Bellinatti and other teachers. She gained her Masters Degree at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, USA. Since 1987 she has lived in Berlin where she works as a composer and performer of new, experimental and Brazilian music. She has been a member of the music group Amchair Traveller since 1999. As a composer, Silvia Ocougne’s interdisciplinary work includes music for film, sound installations and dance. odd wednesday is a series of concerts happening on every Wednesday with an odd numbered date (Nov. 13th, 27th, Dec. 11th, etc.).
