Vigato Quartett

"Die vier Musiker sind Könner ihres Faches. Wie die jungen Leute spielten, mit welchem Ausdruck und Gefühlen sie aus Noten Töne zaubern, war großartig." Die Mitteldeutsche Zeitung

The Vigato Quartet – Veronika Bejnarowicz (violin), Laura Kania (violin), Marc Kopitzki (viola) and
Gereon Theis (cello) – first met in 2010 at the University of Music in Detmold.

The string quartet was inspired by working with the Auryn Quartett and the Belcea Quartet as well
as Heime Müller (Artemis Quartett), Tim Vogler (Vogler Quartett), Bernhard Schmidt (Mandelring
Quartett) and Dirk Mommertz (Fauré Quartett). Master classes and workshops enriched the
ensemble’s musical development.
In August 2016 the Vigato Quartet received an invitation to the Jeunesses Musicales International
Chamber Music Campus in Weikersheim.
Actually the quartet is studying its master studies in chamber music at the University of Music in
Hannover (Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien) in the class of Prof. Oliver Wille.
Concert tours have taken the Vigato Quartet throughout Germany and Europe. In 2015 it was
subsequently invited to the international Festival Pablo Casals in Prades (France) and the Rigi
Musiktage in Vitznau (Switzerland).
In 2017 the first CD of Vigato, together with the harpist Rebekka Frömling, was released by
PASCHENrecords. In the same year the Vigato quartet had the opportunity to work together with
Eberhard Feltz during the chamber music master classes in Frenswegen. From that on the
musicians regularly continue to work with him in different courses.
The Vigato Quartet is interested in playing contemporary music. Manfred Trojahn, the well-known
german composer, intensively worked with Vigato on his first string quartet, composed in 1978.
As a result of that cooperation this composition was revised in 2017.
Further in 2018 the Vigato Quartet won a scholarship for the chamber music association ,Villa
Musica’ and the ,Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken’ foundation. These foundations are supporting
the quartet until today.
Now in 2020 the Vigato Quartet will play a concert tour named ,Best of NRW’ (North Rine-
Westphalia) including scholarships and concerts in different places in NRW, like ,Beethoven Haus’
in Bonn.
