Lecture . A new kind of photograph . Pictures from a Leica exhibition

Das sagt der/die Veranstalter:in:

Lecture by Hans-Michael Koetzle, curator and publicist The introduction of the Leica was not merely the invention of a new camera. The small, reliable, and always-ready Leica, equipped with a high-performance lens, marked a paradigm shift in photography. Not only did it allow amateurs, newcomers to the field, and emancipated women easier access to even professional photography; the Leica, which was small enough to fit in a coat pocket, made taking photographs a ubiquitous part of everyday life. “Eyes wide open!” is the first exhibition to explore the Leica phenomenon from a cultural historical perspective. In his lecture, curator Hans-Michael Koetzle will discuss the visual revolution sparked by the introduction of the Leica and will also provide insights into the evolution of the exhibition.
